The 2024 Melbourne Greyhounds Division 1 Team of the Year has been selected.The Team of the Year is selected based on the following criteria:
• Nominations submitted by each senior coach within each division at the conclusion of the home and away season. Coaches must select a player for each position on the field.
• Coaches MVP votes
• Best and Fairest votes
Seven players have been selected from Heidelberg, the same number that was selected last year.
Zane Barzen, Keenan Posar and Brody Tardio repeated their 2023 efforts, meanwhile Frank Rosbrook Medalist Tom Keys earns his first Division 1 Team of the Year selection since 2016.
West Preston-Lakeside were the next club with the most representatives with three players. Max Dreher secured a third nomination and Matthew Harman a second.
Bundoora, Greensborough, Montmorency and North Heidelberg each had two players in the final squad.
Boro captain Jack Johnston secured a sixth appearance in the Team of the Year, and his third straight selection, while Bulls defender Lachlan East earnt his fourth selection.
The remaining four clubs in Banyule, Eltham, Hurstbridge and Macleod all have one player represented.
Darcy Barden’s selection on the bench make it eight appearances for the star Roo, his third in the top flight, meanwhile Declan Ayres becomes the first Panthers player since Anton Woods to earn a Division 1 Team of the Year spot.
